Pierre graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing in 1985. Going from college straight into the insurance field working for Hancock Financial Services, Pierre obtained licenses in Life & Health, Property & Casualty, and Variable Annuities (Series 6). After a few years marketing life insurance products, Pierre was drawn to the Employee Benefits spectrum and has never looked back. After 18 years on the company side of employee benefits (10 years with Aetna as a Broker Representative and Broker Manager) Pierre met P.J. Demarie III and they formed Demarie & Timmerman an Employee Benefits Company.
P.J. graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering in 1980. His post graduate studies include Graduating with a CLU (chartered life underwriter) degree from The American College in 2001, and Graduating with a ChFC (chartered financial consultant) degree from The American College in 2002, and completing the requirements for the CLTC (certified in Long Term Care) degree in 2008. P.J. then became a Drilling Engineer with Gulf Oil Company for 7 years. The majority of this time was spent overseas in Africa in oil and gas exploration operations, managing a drilling budget of $50 million dollars per year. When Chevron Oil Company purchased Gulf Oil Company in 1987, P.J. was faced with a decision to relocate to California or find another job. In 1987 a friend of the family offered him an opportunity to stay near home and get into the insurance business:
